COMMONWEALTH

Charlotte, NC

Axiom Architecture worked with Crosland Southeast on the redevelopment of a key site in Charlotte’s Plaza-Midwood neighborhood. Axiom was tasked with the design of a new mixed-use, multifamily and retail building, which is just one piece of the larger Commonwealth redevelopment that includes additional office and retail buildings situated around the adaptive reuse of two historic buildings. The multifamily building includes 383 apartments, offering a variety of unit plans from studios to three-bedroom units. Residents will enjoy many amenities, including outdoor options such as an elevated pool terrace, a private gaming courtyard, and a rooftop terrace with skyline views. The ground level of the building offers over 36,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, which is designed to draw visitors into the heart of the new development along with the new extension of Commonwealth Avenue. Ample parking is provided for residents and visitors, as well as tenants of the office building across the street. The Rowe opened to its first tenants in spring 2025.
